New Hair, New Kicks

There’s nothing like a new haircut and a new pair of kicks to make you feel like a new woman!

After contemplating for weeks on end, googling images of “the lob”, stalking #lobhaircut on Instagram and looking at Pinterest for long bob hair inspo, I went for the chop!

Couldn’t resist taking a selfie of my new hurrrrrr on the bus ride home from the city!

It’s early days but I feel fresher, lighter and bouncier.

I had more than 6 inches chopped off and it feels so much healthier!  But it still takes just as long to dry though!  #thickhairproblems

As for my new kicks…

Target Active Wear trainers

…I have been getting asked left, right and centre where I bought these because “they look SO comfortable!”

Tar-jay, my friends.

$35 and I’ll even throw in a link here.

They are comfy but without socks, my feet do get a tad sweaty…and not because I have been working out or anything!  I don’t think I would work out in these slip-on trainers because I think they would easily slip off.

But for normal everyday wear in the latter end of winter, it is an upgrade for my poor frozen little toes which were sick of me wearing flip flops { thongs! } day in, day out.

What’s new in your life?  And any tips on styling my lob??

Listen Up Ma, I Don’t Like Hair Accessories!

On Instagram, I follow a lot of mother/baby accounts where their cute baby girls rock cool hair accessories – hair bands, hair bows, turbans, headwraps, etc.  They all look super adorbs.

And then there’s my kidlet.  Hater of all baby girl hair accessories since day dot.

I managed to stealthily clip a pretty pink hair bow on her hair for…hmm…2 seconds to snap a quick photo before she did this…

“Dafuq is this?” { with snot coming out of her nose! }

And with that, she flung the pretty pink hair bow onto the ground to die a long slow painful death and at the same time, shattered my dreams of me becoming a multimillionaire momager to her being a baby model for hair accessories.

Le sigh.

What I Wore : Dark Chambray Shirt

how to wear chambray shirts Chambray shirts have been trendy for a while now but I have been avoiding them.

Even with the name change from denim shirt to chambray shirt, it still triggers memories from my tragic teenage phase when I wore my black denim shirt to death with frizzbomb hair { ghd’s had not been invented yet! } to complete the look.

However, on Friday night, I was at Coles { yeah, my Friday nights are spent at the supermarket #livingontheedge #sarcasmintended } and browsing the Mix Apparel aisles when I noticed that there was $10 off the denim range.

I spotted this dark fitted chambray shirt, squeezed myself into a size 6 which wouldn’t button up { I was fooling myself into thinking that I could!! }, sized up to size 8, gave a twirl to Mr LOL who gave it the thumbs up and popped it into the trolley { along with all the junk food! }.

What I Wore

  • Mix Apparel slim chambray shirt
  • Cotton On navy and white striped vest
  • K-Mart black shorts

I wore it yesterday to church and it was comfy as!

I’ve been stuck in frumpy cardigan land for way too long!!!

I can’t wait to style it with a statement necklace, a maxi skirt, white blazer…the list is endless!

Are you a fan of chambray shirts?  Do you love Mix Apparel too?
